Not to be confused with the item variant, Glowworm Silk (Item).
For more information, see Glowworm Silk (disambiguation). Glowworm Silk is a vine-like, slightly luminous block that can be broken with shears to obtain its item form. It generates naturally in Glowing Grottos. They require a block directly above them to persist.
Usage[]
The block form of Glowworm Silk is primarily decorative. It provides only a meager light level of 1, and like other blocks from its family, will always appear as illuminated, regardless of context. The final block in a "vine" of Glowworm Silk will also produce blue droplet particles. Glowworm Silk also has no collision; that is to say, it can be walked and passed through freely by any entity.
In a similar fashion to vanilla's Cave Vines, Glowworm Silk requires a block directly above it to persist (they must be placed on the underside of a block). If the block directly above a block of Glowworm Silk is broken, the Glowworm Silk will also break, and drop nothing. Unlike Glowshrooms, they can persist on any full face of a block, so long as it is the bottom face. This includes transparent blocks like Glass, and correctly-oriented non-full blocks like bottom slabs.
Breaking Glowworm Silk with Shears will produce the item form of Glowworm Silk.
Obtaining[]
Glowworm Silk is primarily obtained via natural generated strands of it in Glowing Grottos, and by placing its item form on the underside of a block.
It can also be created by bone meal-ing a Glowing Moss Block, so long as the block's bottom face/underside is exposed. If this sole pre-requisite is met, bone meal-ing any face of the Glowing Moss Block will produce Glowworm Silk. Bone meal-ing a Glowing Moss Block that has its bottom face exposed, but its top face covered by a non-moss replaceable block such as Bedrock, will still create Glowworm Silk.
Glowworm Silk Strand[]
There technically exist two different versions of Glowworm Silk as a block: Glowworm Silk (biomesoplenty:glowworm_silk), and Glowworm Silk Strand (biomesoplenty:glowworm_silk_strand). The latter is unobtainable via conventional Survival methods (though it can still be obtained through /give), and is used for the blocks of Glowworm Silk that are above the final one in the chain. When obtained in the inventory, it takes on the name of "Glowworm Silk Strand", and the inventory sprite it uses is the same as the regular Glowworm Silk item sprite. It also lacks the tooltip stating that it's from the Biomes o' Plenty mod. When pick blocked (defaults to Middle Click, or pressing the scroll wheel), they will give the player regular Glowworm Silk in item form instead.
This block also produces a light level of 1, and will always appear fully illuminated, but it does not produce the same blue droplet particles that the typical Glowworm Silk block does.
